Our history
Slickrock Drifters is composed of 3 long-time friends: Anthony Lloyd, Music Man Woody, and D’Rail Hampton. In April 2021, a new member appeared. Skip Huntress, so inspired by the band, he was an instant fit and began providing a solid and steady beat that brought order to the chaos. "I knew that history was happening before my eyes and I just had to be a part of it". Casual jamming turned into focused rehearsals, and a glimpse of the possibilities eventually led to a summer filled with shows throughout Salt Lake City and surrounding areas.
Anthony is a natural behind the mic and entertains crowds, whether it be a business meeting or 500 bikers at a rally. Music Man Woody provides the rhythm and foundation through articulate, thought-provoking lyrics. D’Rail Hampton is the smooth and lovable jester with a quick wit and booming low end. Now it was time to get it on tape. With the help of Brandon Manchego, Mancheeto Studios, who skillfully guided the band and patiently performed audio-driven miracles and screaming lead guitar, as well as Takis Matthaiou, our Greek prodigy on keyboards, our album "Freedom" is now a reality.
What was once a ragtag menagerie is now something even your brother-in-law would rock to. It took the help of everyone involved to smooth out the edges, and our loyal base of fans to keep us going. A great big shout out to James Anderson at the Bit Farm and SDR Studio for their mastering skills.
Our sound
Someone called us the John Reless Band for awhile because we had so many different sounds. Take a listen and you'll hear something unique and creative. It's hard to pigeon hole the Slickrock Drifters. There's always a story and a driving rhythm that will keep you listening.
